Shipping & Returns

Shipping Information (Updated March 3, 2011)

I am happy to ship anywhere in the world (unless there are legal or carrier restrictions). You may contact Keeping Home for a shipping quote. Or, if you order without checking first you will be charged the additional shipping. International orders will be insured if possible. Customer is responsible for any customs fees.

USA Shipping Information

All packages are shipped priority, parcel post, or first class, with delivery confirmation and, if I deem it necessary, insurance.

If you would like to be billed later for a more accurately calculated shipping cost, select the "Flat Rate" option at checkout. You will NOT be billed for more than the shopping cart would have charged you! Item will not be shipped until bill is paid.

Packages should be shipped within 48 hours, Monday-Friday. However, this is a small family business, so please be understanding!

Returns

All returns must be authorized ahead of time. E-mail the store and wait for a response telling you to send it. Return, exchange, and refund policies depend on your reason for returning the item.


If possible, send your e-mail return receipt requested. That way, you will know whether or not I received it.

#1 If you want to return an item because you decided you don't want it or you ordered the wrong size, etc. . . .

You should know you want to do this as soon as you open the package, if not before. Therefore, please request authorization immediately. The item you are returning must be unopened and in good (resellable) condition. You must pay the shipping to return the product. A restocking fee of 20% will be charged. Let me know whether you want:

1) The item exchanged for another of equal or lesser value. Request for authorization must be made within fifteen business days of the date your package was shipped. You will be charged for shipping on the replacement order. Please ship your package as soon as you recieve authorization.

2) Funds placed in your gift certificate account (you can purchase with these funds). Request for authorization must be made within thirty days of the date your package was shipped. Please ship your package as soon as you recieve authorization.

3) Your money refunded. This option is only available if you request authorization within ten business days of the date your package was shipped, and you ship the return within two business days of authorization (or make other arrangements).

#2 If you want to return an item because is was not what you expected or you don't like it . . .

The item you are returning must be unopened and in good condition. You must pay the shipping to return the product. Tell me why it was not what you expected or why you don't like it. A restocking fee of up to 20% may be charged (for example, if you failed to read the entire description of the product). Let me know whether you want:

#3 If you want to return an item because it was damaged in shipping . . .

If the package is obviously damaged at delivery, talk to your mail carrier. If you only realize an item was damaged after you opened the package, then of course you can't do that. Save the packaging and damaged product, and contact me AND your local post office immediately. If you do not contact me within 48 hours, follow instructions for #2 above. If you want to be assured that I recieved your e-mail, send it "return receipt requested".

#4 If you want to return an item because it is faulty (i.e. the manufacturer messed up). . .

See #2, with the following changes.

1) Tell me what is wrong with the product when you send your request.

2) If upon receiving your return I determine that the product is indeed faulty, I will refund (in one way or another) your shipping cost.

3) If the product is not really faulty, your shipping will not be refunded and the cost of the item will not be refunded. On the products I sell, most problems will be very obvious--not something I would be likely to miss!

4) If I ship a replacement, I will pay the shipping.

5) Although replacements and refunds are only available as stated, the 2nd option (gift certificate funds) is available for six months, not thirty days. However, please e-mail as soon as you realize something is wrong with the product so that I may contact the manufacturer and try to get a replacement.

6) Products returned for this reason may be opened, of course.

7) You may need to contact the manufacturer or ship the product to the manufacturer. Always e-mail me first, though!

8) If the manufacturer does not wish to determine whether or not the product is faulty, then the decision is entirely up to me.

#5 If you want to return an item that was shipped by mistake (i.e. I messed up) . . .

See #2, with the following changes.

1) I will refund your shipping cost.

2) If I ship a replacement, I will pay the shipping.


These policies may be changed at any time without notice, and I reserve the right to correct mistakes. If you have any questions about my shipping or return policies, don't hesitate to ask for clarification!
